In excellent condition for it's 15 year vintage, this Momose is quite a rare example of their very very intricate aged finish.
It is hard to capture on camera, but there are beautifully done hairline cracks in the top coat that form intricate patterns. Really well done. Then the other aging details are a little less subtle, but moderate. It's artfully done and you can tell a lot of time has been spent on it.
Current finishes like this one tend to be in the 350000jpy and up price bracket. Looking at past pricing of Momose SPs they were usually around that kind of mark too.
This one has not seen much use, there is barely any wear on the frets and the truss is very healthy, with decades of use left.
It sets up amazingly, on a par with Moon, Sadowsky, Black Smoker etc etc.
The vintage handwound pickups sound fantastic and this model has high grade CTS pots and vintage cloth wiring with a big juicy oiled paper, Delritmo capacitor.
It sounds really good. Lots of cream and warmth in the mids, but very focussed, tight, and punchy lows and highs.
