In decent condition for it's age with a ding in the headstock and a chip on the hip contour, nothing that hinders use or performance at all. It is generally clean and in excellent playing order. Cool Z is the sister brand of History, Shimamura Gakki chain's own in-house brand, made by Fujigen.
It plays and sounds just as good as any of the standard Fender Japan models and in some ways is actually better. It's new list price was about 82000jpy, extremely reasonable for a bass that can set up this nicely.
The neck is excellent, sets up low, has nice medium jumbo frets in silver/nickel which are well rounded for very comfortable play.
This brand can be likened to Squier Japan vs Fender Japan. The build quality is just as good, but the materials are a little lesser for example the nut is synthetic bone, the frets are nickel not steel, and the body is 3 pc basswood, not alder. That's about it though. The hardware is just as good, if not preferable actually.
Excellent cost performance!
