My latest addition to my Funky Junk family!
This funny old short scale was a stunning Fernandes FAB 170 Alembic Copy from circa 1980 in Zebra wood and Alder.
It was modded professionally many years ago by the previous owner, into an 8 string then modded back to a four string. The maroon paint work is professionally done, is generally very tidy, but is a bit scuffed up in a few places,
Some of the filled in peg holes were starting to crack a little on the face of the headstock so I decided to do a rosewood veneer instead.
I also decided to cap the Bartolini humbuckers with flame maple and do matching headstock accents.
I kept the flame maple and rosewood theme going on the rear for the cavity covers.
The highly versatile circuit allows for stunningly clear and punchy Mark King-esque tone, avery creamy burp on the rear pup, and a nice aggressive front pup that can go huge deep and round for dub, salsa, RnB, Reggae etc, to growly and throaty for rock applications.
