What are Funky Junk?
Simply put: They are recycled "junk" / component basses that are nursed back to life and full functionality!
I like to think of my self as a charitable type, I hate to see poor abused basses disused and rotting in the back of a cupboard or crusty corner of a garage or something!
So I buy poor, dishevelled looking beasts, and give them a new lease of life, a new home, and hopefully find them new owners too!
I spend at least a full day on each bass, getting it working again and in playable order.
In some respects I could say I run a shelter for abused basses! Anyway, most of these pictured already found homes, but all of them came to me dysfunctional and battered and left playing and sounding great...and in some cases looking pretty damn cool too :)
I now take requests, you can order a color schematic and pickguard wood (depending on availability) and pickup configuration among other things.
This for the deposit to get started on your very own customized funky-junk bass!
Base price for a functional but simple jazz or P bass starts at around 50000JPY give or take, and includes standard vintage hardware or existing used hardware, a revamped pickguard, standard anico pickups, passive control set, and a choice of solid or metallic colors with light relic or plain finish.
