The latest iteration of the well loved FGN JMP double-P bass.
After putting this model on hiatus for a couple of years, the revered Fujigen plant's eponymous brand has gone for a very smart looking matte-black open-pore finish for the 2nd generation!
The build is otherwise the same in playability, parts spec, pickups and so-on as the 1st gen except they are not offering alder/rose combos. This means the playability and feel of the neck is completely consistent.
The tone of this open-pore style finish is a little warmer than it's hard gloss finished predecessor, and they are also built with lighter ash too, so the average weight is around 4kg.
Despite the lighter materials and finish the balanced tone is punchy and focused, and the front pickup soloed, is round, throaty and deep.
The rear pickup tone is warm and creamy with more breath too, compared to the gen 1 model.
It's a great bass with killer looks that could fit in anywhere, be it pop, rock, metal, fusion or RnB, although I'd say aesthetically it's pretty damn metal!
