This was born of another customer's custom reverse-head Jazz who decided they wanted a maple fretboard instead, leaving me with this reverse-head neck already finished in this fiery lava orange!
I had a spare alder P bass body kicking around so decided to rout a J pup close to the bridge for some real quack.... and paint it to match.
I had a set of PJ pups from an Aria PJ body I'd got in for anpther project, so i veneered them with flame maple to match the headstock detail, then did my usual veneering treatment on the pickguard, giving it a two tone look, with the separate control plate in flame maple, and the rest in darkened walnut with slight distressing .
I added a series parallel switch to the front pickup for added tonal scope and sidemounted the jack to allow for the three dial control set.
The neck is an Aria one from the late 80s and plays well, the action sets up low and the bass feels great. Weight wise it's relatively light at only 4.1kg.
It comes with a good quality, decently padded gig case.
Disclaimer: As with all my recycled basses, these are not works of perfection... They are designed to be highly functional , cool looking and reasonably priced. Finishing is not the level of a brand new Atelier Z or Fender Japan for example. There are flaws and in many cases some of the original scars on the body may show through a little.
