From ESP's entry level MIK series, Grass Roots.
This is a formidable contender with Sire / Bacchus universe active models and actually has a surprisingly nice neck. The three band preamp allows for a versatile tone set, and although it pales compared to it's high end cousin, it is truly amazing for the money.
The neck and body are well made, and that is what really matters, so it will provide an excellent instrument for a serious intermediate or beginner and even a fantastic basis for a pro to upgrade.
