This rare specimen is in B+ condition for its age, very clean over all, in great working order, healthy fretboard and truss, smooth action and killer tone!
It is tricky to ascertain everything as being completely original... However, the hardware, pickups, and circuitry all check out as authentic.
The body and neck I believe are authentic too, the hand written date, and decal is consistent with other JV necks I've seen, but I think this is either a semi-order or a professional body refinish, as the color is pearl white, not vintage white, which as far as I know was not a production color. I know that there were options to mail in semi order requests back in the day for things like custom colours, fretless options etc, so this is a possibility.
The fit is tight and there is no play or discrepancy in the bolt holes so I am certain this body and neck are original. Everything lines up properly.
The pick guard is also consistent with the catalog spec and what I've seen on other 115s in the past too.
I bought this in because a good 115 is extremely rare to come by and I hadn't seen a white one for many years! I understand collectors can be very scrupulous about small details so I'm trying to make this as easy to discern as I can.
To reiterate, my hunch is that it's a authentic 115 with a professionally done refinish, or it's semi-order.
