Kanade Gen Koubou (Harmony String Instrument Workshop) are a very small operation based in earthquake ravaged Ishikawa prefecture, not far from the 2024 disaster site.
I had been scouting these for a while as they looked very promising and arranged to buy new stock for BJD.
This is one of the new stock that I selected and it's absolutely beautiful. Superb neck, super low action, a pretty wide tonal range and a lovely organic sound thanks to the chambered body and hand wound pickups, it is now sold out, but we can supply these order made.
The aesthetics of this bass are beautiful, with the aqua fade burl poplar top, the matching countersunk wooden bridge mount and the nitro finish is great. Stunning materials and great functionality in a bass that plays and sounds like a Fodera or Ken Smith.
